The Exquisite Corpse Video Project is managed by Brazilian artist, Kika Nicolela, and created by the
members of artreview.com, a networking website for artists, galleries, and collectors. The pieces are
composed in the following manner: the final ten seconds of a one-minute video piece are sent to a
second participant who integrates the ten seconds into the beginning of her own one-minute video. She
in turn sends her own final ten seconds to a third contributor and so on, until all minute-long segments
are ‘stitched’ together to create a single piece. While Surrealists are said to have devised this method of
art-making almost a century ago, only recently could such a fast-paced, pan-global, audiovisual variation
of this exercise be produced.
