Breakthrough Signals
Transcending the concept of thematic programming, Breakthrough Signals presents a game of contrast, differences that can only be united or separated in the mind of the observer. From the 40s with the work of Norman McLaren until now, there have been many fundamental changes in experimental film and video. The access of digital technology and the influx of immigrant artists are some of the changes that challenge the status quo and redefine the concept of experimental art and subsequently Canadian culture. This program is an attempt to showcase the ever-changing faces of experimental Canadian video art.
Co-presented by CARFAC Ontario and Canadian Fimmakers Distribution Centre.
