Undocumented is the story of a subject who illegally crossed the border between Peru and Chile. This man was shot and killed by a Chilean soldier while he was walking near milestone Number One in the Atacama desert. This incident resurfaces the historical tension between Chile and Peru. It also portrays a contemporary trend in this part of the region, a growing flux of immigrants from Peru to Chile.
La historia de un caminante que cruzó la frontera entre Perú y Chile. El fué abaleado y asesinado por un soldado Chileno mientras cruzaba la frontera en el desierto de Atacama. Estos incidente reviven una histórica tensión entre Chile y Perú y es un retrato contemporáneo de lo que sucede en esta region con el constante flujo de imigrantes entre Peru y Chile. |

This is a video of my mother as she is immersed in a trance, while hospitalized for a broken hip injury. It was the beginning of her dementia. At this time, she still recognized me, but was beginning to slip into madness. There is a great sadness in this video. The soundtrack talks about getting some aspirin to cure a headache, but my mother’s condition is so much more complex and degenerative.

Mexico is ruled by dark forces. After the 2006 presidential campaign, the media broadcasts images and ideas that maintain a constant warning state. Everyone fears being the next kidnapping victim, or getting caught between the cross fire of narcs, or attacked by a dangerous leftist government. At the same time, two kids offer their prayers in exchange for pennies. They ask for a country full of blessings.
Vivimos un país comandado por las fuerzas del terror. Desde la campaña presidencial del 2006, los medios difunden imágenes y argumentos que mantienen a la población en constante alerta y con temor de ser las próximas víctimas de algún secuestro, enfrentamiento entre narcos, o de un peligroso gobernante de izquierda. En contraste, dos niños piden limosna mientras rezan en la calle por un México lleno de bendiciones.
