Submissions for the 24th edition of aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival are now closed!

The 24th edition of the aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival will take place in October 2024in the bustling city of Toronto.

aluCine 2023 aims to provide an exclusive showcase for Latin-American directors of independent cinema. Designed to promote Latin-American cinema & media art, the festival’s focus will consist of panel discussions, workshops, and artists’ talks. aluCine’s goals include empowering creators of all ages to see themselves in a broader context.

Submission fee: $10 CAD before Feb. 28, $15 CAD before May 30 (payment can be made directly through FilmFreeway)

1) ELIGIBILITY
aluCine encourages submissions that are independently produced by Latin American filmmakers and artists living in their countries and abroad. We welcome short films and videos of all genres, including but not limited to narrative, fiction, documentary, animation, video art, experimental, and web-based art. Please note that aluCine accepts short films as works of 30 minutes in length and feature films. All works selected for aluCine are eligible for the Festival Awards. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

2) SCREENING FORMATS
We receive works to be screened in the following formats:

– High resolution digital exhibition copies sent via Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer
– BluRay

3) SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Video submissions are accepted through FilmFreeway’s platform.

As you register make sure the work submitted is labeled clearly in regards of title, director’s name, and year. Also, the appropriate contact information has to be included in the user’s profile.

The material submitted will remain private and can only be viewed by aluCine and the submitter.
 

 

4) PROGRAMMING
All of aluCine’s screening programs are carefully curated, and all submissions will be fully considered by aluCine’s selection committee . Applicants will be notified if their work has been selected through the email address that they provided with their submission. The decision of the programmers is final.

*** If a film is selected for screening at the festival, the entrant grants aluCine the right to utilize publicity materials related to the production (i.e. press kits, posters, stills, etc.) for promotional purposes, to broadcast clips of a maximum of five minutes, to have free promotional screenings after the festival, and to make dubs of their film for publicity purposes only.

5) AWARDS
Awards are presented for Best Films annually. Film awards include:

– Best Film
– Best Documentary
– Best Experimental
