Our festival begins with a DELIGHTFUL QUEER SUBVERSION! This event will celebrate the confluence of Latinx and queer identities with this multidisciplinary OUT & PROUD event. Hosted at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, our opening night features an array of amazing musicians and performers, and includes a live music performance, burlesque, drag, DJ sets… and an alien invasion!

DJ Sofia Fly
Sofia Fly is a DJ and musician from Toronto. Her music features poetic party-girl lyrics set to a Latin inspired fusion of hip-hop and house music. Her DJ sets are complex, genre-hopping, beat puzzles built around her own signature remixes and beats. Her hit single "Patrona" and her newest project "Fly Beats II Virgo Rising" are available to stream on all major music streaming services.
Sinvergüenzilla
Jessica Esmeralda Zepeda is a devised theatre artist based in Tkaronto with a diaspora from Kuskatan, a.k.a El Salvador. Jessica is a Humber Theater Alumni, and in 2021, they produced and starred in the short film Sinvergüenzilla in First Kiss which screened at the 31st Annual Inside Out LGBTQ Film Festival, Vancouver Queer Film Fest 2021, Anomaly -The Rochester Genre Film Festival and won Best Local Film Award 2021 at the aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival. Currently, Jessica is working behind the scenes in the performance sector, but Sinvergüenzilla is thrilled to be back on Earth for AluCineArte’s Latin American Arts Festival.
Ceréna
Ceréna (she/her) is a JUNO nominated experimental dance-pop artist from Toronto, Canada. Ceréna's primarily self-produced debut album resurrection (2021) features hits “see”, “hearts on fire” and “gender euphoria.” The album serves to be a reclamation of herself, elaborating on favoured themes of freedom, community, love and unity. She also pays tribute to her Latinx heritage with tracks like “pa’fuera”, and “cielito lindo”, pushing conventional pop to new boundaries.
Ceréna’s debut album launched off the platform and community she co-founded via Club Quarantine (2020), a digital dance party that supports and uplifts QTBIPOC artists. Club Q has seen international acclaim and hosted Lady Gaga, Tinashe, Laverne Cox, and Tove Lo to name a few.
Beyond her thrilling vocal chops, Ceréna often flexes her dance skills as part of the Kiki House of Siriano ballroom community.
Selena Vyle
Selena Vyle is Toronto's Lebanese Mexican bearded sensation serving all the representation you can handle. This accomplished improv and sketch comedienne has earned a Canadian Comedy Award, been featured at comedy festivals such as Just for Laughs Montreal, Toronto Sketchfest, and We're Funny That Way and is a co-host of the Canadian Podcast Award winning Squirrel Talk Podcast. She's the voice of Rosa Mel Paquete in Ubisoft's Far Cry 6, and debuted her first visual album, Broken Hearted Girl at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2021. Irmita la Dulce
Irma Villafuerte is a dance artist, emerging choreographer and educator based in Tkaronto from Nahuat Territory Kuskatan, post-colonial El Salvador. She serves as an educator at Randolph College for the Performing Arts,Toronto Film School, and Casa Maiz’ Semillas Latinas. She’s been part of festivals across the Americas and the Caribbean. She has collaborated and performed works by Kaha:wi Dance Theatre, Jaberi Dance Theatre, Kaeja d’Dance, Victoria Mata, Aria Evans, Alejandro Ronceria, and Arsenio Andrade. Her passion for social justice and her identity as a Salvadorian in the diaspora is the driving force for creation in Irma’s choreography, performance work and pedagogy.
Irmita La Dulce is Irma’s burlesque performance alter-ego, and she is part of Les Femmes Fatales Women of Colour Troupe.
